This is your home. The Field was built for reporters whose work goes unheard. Women reporters and reporters with disabilities or special needs are especially welcome. We answer every pitch within 48 hours, and if it is a no, we tell you why. Your voice belongs here.

Who should write

Reporters and writers anywhere in the world, with a first-hand accountability story: an investigation, human rights, governance or conflict. Please read the guidelines first. They take five minutes.

What to include

You may send a full draft instead of a summary. Write the subject line as Pitch: your headline.

What happens next

  1. Within 48 hours you hear from us with a yes, a no, or a question.
  2. If yes, we edit with you, check the evidence and agree on credit and images.
  3. Within 72 hours of accepting, we aim to publish.

If your story is dangerous

Say so in your first email, without detail. We will agree a secure way to continue before you send anything sensitive. You can publish under a pseudonym.
